The Moonlighters Jazz Band is an eight-piece band whose superb instrumentation and showmanship combines with heartfelt vocals and tap dancing to ensure memorable performances. Among the impressive credentials of some of the Moonlighters are gigs with internationally renowned performers, including Natalie Cole, Nancy Wilson, Johnny Mathis, Stevie Wonder, and Dionne Warwick.

The band plays a combination of jazz standards from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s (bossa, up- tempo, swing, ballads) as well as jazz instrumentals and vocals of contemporary artists.

The Moonlighters have been performing throughout Atlanta since the mid 1990’s at festivals, clubs, weddings, conferences, and benefits. For the past 7 years, they have performed at the Red Light Café, Jerry Farber’s Side Door Club (recently closed), and Café 290, some Atlanta’s favorite live music haunts.

“We call ourselves the Moonlighters because most of us pursue other professions during the day. Nevertheless, we have all played professionally, and we share a deep passion for our musical moonlighting,” said bandleader and flutist David Kleinbaum, an Emory University Professor of Epidemiology. Nikolai Panov, our sax player, of Russian origins, has played professionally all over the world, and most recently this year was featured with Vibraphonist Dave Samuels at a sold out Tchaicovsky Hall in Moscow; by day, Nikolai is a software computer specialist for CDC.
